JEREMIAH 33,3
Everything begins with prayer, also the new year!
07. – 27th January, 2024
Imagine a deciduous tree: In autumn it is incredibly beautiful and colorful. Then it goes into hibernation. It sheds its leaves and looks almost lifeless on the outside. The tree lets go of everything beautiful for a certain time. It turns inward in a totally new direction. It takes root anew and draws water from the source.
We would like to do something similar as a church during our 21 days of fasting and prayer: We renounce something. We consciously open our hearts and start with God into the year 2022. We take time to listen to him and to encounter him deeply. Since ancient times, fasting has been a wonderful way to reorient and refocus ourselves on God.
Why 21 days?
We draw inspiration from Daniel in the Bible (Daniel 9-10), who took 21 days for a time of prayer and fasting, during which time he had a personal encounter with God.
Fasting is something beautiful. Of course, especially the first few days are challenging, no question. That‘s why it’s especially important to emphasize that we don’t see fasting as a religious act. Please do not feel pressured to fast!
Is this time period not so convenient for you?
No problem, you can also start earlier, later or in between. You can also start or repeat this intensive time of prayer and fasting at any time of the year. The only thing that matters is that you consciously take time to recharge your batteries and to immerse yourself more deeply in God’s presence.
Fasting Preparation for Adults
Fasting is something very intimate between you and God. It is about going with Him into the Secret Place. Give up something in order to hear and experience God even better and sit with Him as if in front of a crackling fireplace. Here you will find inspiration on how and what to fast.

Especially in our fast-paced times, it is very important to slow down. Therefore, we would like to suggest you to completely abstain from social media during the 21 days.
